Project Description:
Byndoor is a coastal town and headquarters of Byndoor Taluk in the Udupi District of Karnataka state, India.the Project area is spread over Byndoor taluk in Udupi District:
The villages in this area are suffering from acute water shortage for irrigation and drinking water during summer. During a major part of the year rainfall is scanty and the nalas do not receive sufficient flow. Due to this major part of Byndoor taluk is suffering from drinking water shortage. Also, there is shortage of water for irrigation during Rabi – Paddy season.
The scheme is proposed to irrigate lands in villages of Byndoor taluka of Udupi district. The villages coming under this scheme are poverty stricken and there is no surface source of water for Irrigation during summer. Agriculture is an economic activity. The people of the region have no other employment opportunities. Hence providing irrigation and stabilizing agricultural production provides a much-needed relief to the people. It improves the per capita income and standard of living of the people. Further it utilizes the water and land resources, improves GDP contribution from agriculture.
The Geographical location of the intake point is right bank of Yedaramavina Hole near Halageri village 13048’0.99″N latitude and 74039’6.67″E longitude. In this scheme, it provided irrigation for 275 Ha of suffering atchkut area of Halageri, Herenjalu, Ashray colony, Abbihole, Kaltodu hottu village of Dakashina Kannada district by lifting water from Yedaramavina Hole and water requirement for this project is 0.00098 TMC.
This scheme consists of Intake, Jack well cum Pump to accommodate pumping machinery 3 nos of VT Pumps (2 working + 1 standby) of 180.00 HP, 11/0.433 KV for lifting with 2 NOS (1 working + 1 standby) of 0.5 MVA.
