Project Description:

Hebri is a town and taluk headquarters in the Udupi district of Karnataka, at the foot of the Western Ghats of India in Karnataka state. The major rivers which are flowing in Udupi are, Seetha, Shambavi and Payaswami are all join the Arabian Sea.

The Barrage location for the scheme is on the MDR which connects Hebri and Haladi. The FRL proposed for storage is 46. 500m.The geographical location of the is at Latitude = 13°28’55.67″N, Longitude = 74°58’20.81″E

A Bridge Cum Vented Dam is augmenting the water for the Drinking and Irrigation purpose in the non-monsoon period which stores a water of about 0.578 MCM all along the length of 110m.

FRL of the Vented Dam is kept at RL 46.50 m. Further, the ventes are so proportioned that all the gated bays of the structure are accommodated within the available riverbed width along the proposed axis of the Vented Dam. The Bridge cum Vented Dam serves the purpose of storage, connectivity, and Irrigation activities.

The water supply from this project will give opportunity for farmers to use for irrigation purposes, livelihood stocks for their essential purposes. The road provides the connectivity between two places, Haladi and Hebri.

The Length of the Bridge cum Vented Dam is 110. m. It is to store the water within the banks with the help of a gate including all lifting arrangements. The storage of water due to construction of dam is 20.41 MCFT.The length of water stored is 2100 m. The number of vents is 8 Nos the catchment area at the site location is 20.41 sq. km. The total cost of the Vented Dam, its appurtenant works including other protection works will be Rs 70 Crores
