Project Description:

The tanks in and around Kiravatti and Madanuru gram panchayats in Yallapur Taluka, and Gunjavati and Mainalli gram panchayts in Mundgod Taluka of Uttara kannada District are not filling even though they are in Western Ghats. This is mainly because the tanks are located on streams which are located near the ridge points and have got lesser catchments.

The Scheme involves lifting of Water from River Bedti to fill 100 Nos of tanks (55 Nos of tanks in Yallapura Taluk and 45 Nos of Tanks in Mundgod Taluk) of Uttara Kannada District. A Diversion Weir along with Jack Well cum Pump house is proposed. 3 Working +1 Stand by Pumps on right bank and 2 Working +1 Standby pumps on left bank are provided which lifts the water for a head of 150m on Right bank and 154 m on the left Bank.

A rising main of length 17.57 Km. And 19.54 Km are provided on the Right and left banks respectively. A total of 122 Km is proposed as Pressure distribution Network. A terminal bay along with Substation, transmission lines, surge protection works, Pressure relief valves, Manifold, Pipe Appurtenance works such as Air valve Scour Valve, Butterfly valve, etc are provided.

Minor Irrigation and Ground Water Development Division, Mangaluru, has invited tender for construction of 17 vented dams across various streams/Rivers in Bantwal Constituency. The important rivers across where construction of vented dams proposed are in Nethravathi River, Phalguni River, Guduri River, Virakhamba Nala etc. The proposal of these dams serves the purpose of storage and connectivity between two villages. All the above 17 locations are around BC road/ Nethravathi river. The villagers have suggested the dam location and have been recommended by MI officials and vented dams are proposed at these locations.

Construction of these vented dams serves the purpose of both storage and connectivity between the two villages. Construction of these dams will servers the purpose of storage for irrigation purposes and serves the connectivity between two places.
