Mundgod – 19 Tank Filling Scheme

Mundgod taluk in Uttar Kannada district is considered as backward taluk. Major occupation of the people is agriculture. The rainfall is irregular and unseasonal, on account of which the yield of crops is very low. Despite these tanks being located in semi Malnad area the tanks are not having more catchment area as these are located near to ridge line of Bedti and Varada basin. Due to this these tanks are not filling. The past 10 years record collected from MI authorities shows that there is about 50-60% deficit every year. Under the main scheme of filling up of 129 tanks there are about 20 tanks are left out under Ginnakerehalla and Nandikatta Gram Panchayat. Then KNNL officials identified the left out 19 tanks on the ground and examined the possibilities having separate lift to fill the new 19 tanks and as well worked out the possibilities by tapping the water from the ongoing Mundgod 129 tanks filling scheme.

Proposed scheme of filling up of additional 19 No. of tanks in Ginnakerehalla and Nandikatta Gram Panchayat Mundgod taluk of Uttar Kannada district, which will augment the Ground water recharge, Cattle drinking and Irrigation requirement.

To feed the water to the additional 19 tanks it is planned to tap from the pipeline network planned for 129 tanks filling scheme. According to the tank proximity from the Rising main of ongoing scheme, Three Bleeders named 7A ,10A and 17A were proposed at three different locations Ch:12+700Km, Ch:16+300Km and Ch:18+900Km respectively.

Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited has awarded M/s OCEAN CONSTRUCTIONS PVT LTD. to carry out “Survey, Investigation, Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning for the work extension of Pressure Distribution network to filling up additional 19 Tanks connecting from the existing piping network under Mundgod 129 tanks filling scheme in Mundgod Taluk, Uttar Kannada District
