Survey, investigation, design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of Lift Irrigation Scheme to Balthila Village by lifting Water from Nethravati river in Bantwal Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District by feeding 10 percolation tank by Pressure and Gravity system, enroute feeding of Nala  for providing irrigation facility to an ICA of 570 Ha comprising of Rising Main, Bleeders network, with under each block including necessary valves, specials, crossing structures, butter fly valves at each offtake, control valves for pipe distribution network and  supply of spare parts & Tools including O & M for Five years on Turn-key Basis in Bantwal Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District

Project Description:

Balthila is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India. It is in the Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka. Bantwal is located 25 km East of Mangalore city center. Bantwal is located along the coast of the river Netravathi. Every year due to heavy rains the river floods.

The Grama Panchayats in Bantwal taluk are Golthamajalu, Kolnadu,Sajipa Muda, Kurnadu ,Maani, Navooru, Pudu Sangabettu,  Amtady, Maavinakatte , Sarapady,Thumbe, Veerakumba and Vittla (Vittal).

The project consists of Lifting water from Nethravati River on downstream of shamboor village barrage in Shamboor village, Bantwal taluk .10 percolation tanks and 6 Vented dams in and around Balathila Village.

The Geographical location of the intake point in the river are 12°52’34.97″Nlatitude and 75° 6’1.26″ E longitude. In this scheme, it provides irrigation for 570 Ha of suffering atchkut area of Balathila Village of Dakashina Kannada district by lifting water from Nethravati River and water requirement for this project is 0.26 TMC.It is is very much essential for long term sustainability of the livelihood of the area.

This scheme consists of Intake, Jack well cum Pump to accommodate pumping machinery 3 No’s (2 working + 1 standby) Vertical Turbine pumps each of capacity 1110 HP, 33/6.6 KV Electrical substation with 2 No’s (1working+1standby) 2.5 MVA capacity Transformer including construction of Terminal Bay Erection of 33 KV transmission line 5 km.

The length of Rising Main is 5.611km (MS) and DI Pressure distribution network pipe is 12.523 Km (Pipe Dia

varying from 800mm to100mm). The cost of the estimate for implementation of the scheme is 126 Crores.
