Road Over Bridge LC-53

Katpadi is located, at the northern part of Vellore city of Vellore district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The Katpadi Railway Junction is  located in between major cities of Bangalore and Chennai. Katpadi is part of Vellore City Municipal Corporation (VCMC). The two places are collectively known as Vellore and together form the eighth-largest city in Tamil Nadu. Katpadi lies in the northern side of the Palar River towards Andhra Pradesh.

The railway crossing LC No. 53 is located at Railway Km 127/18-20 in between Sevur and Katpadi Railway stations in Arakkonam– Katpadi railway route. The LC location is next to Vellore Institute of Technology. The railway line runs parallel to SH 59 & existing ROW is 55m. The location is 1.9 km from Chittoor Bus Stand, Katpadi. From there it takes left to reach LC 53, which is immediate next to Vellore Institute of Technology. This road is under the jurisdiction of Construction and Maintenance Subdivision Katpadi (H) which is under the control of Vellore (H). 

A ROB of induvial Span 20 m each is proposed with a deck width of 8.5m and Service Road 5.5m on one side. The vertical clearance of ROB is kept as 6.525 m. The approaches on both side of the Railway portion must be executed by Tamil Nadu Highways Department (TNHD) as per the common GAD / Alignment concurred by both TNHD and Railways. The Railways portion work shall be done by Railways.
